Aviation Scholarships

West Valley Flying Club has established three annual scholarships. Two of these scholarships are in memory of two of our flight instructors. Starting in 2015, we are proud to partner with the 99s organization to offer a third scholarship for aspiring female pilots.  Applications for these scholarships may be submitted by completing the "Apply Now" button below.

You also may contribute to the scholarship of your choice by clicking the "Contribute Now" button for the fund you wish to contribute to.

Gianni Manganelli Memorial Scholarship

On June 18, 2011 fellow West Valley Flying club employee, pilot, instructor and above-all, friend, Gianni Manganelli passed away after a tragic motorcycle accident.

In his memory, West Valley Flying Club has established a $1000 memorial scholarship to help fellow aviators pursue their dreams to learn to fly or towards their studies.

Although Gianni had many hobbies and activities in his life, one of his true passions was aviation.  Through this fund we hope to give others the chance to purse this passion while we honor Gianni and carry forward his memory through this worthwhile cause.

Application Deadline: November 30th

     Lorne Lawry Memorial Scholarship

On March 11, 2013 West Valley Flying Club lost a wonderful flight instructor and dear friend, Lorne Lawry.

In Lorne's memory, we have established a $1000 memorial scholarship.

Lorne had a strong passion for aviation, especially sharing his knowledge with his students and other club members.  Through this fund we hope we will be able to continue to make a difference in the lives of aspiring pilots in the Bay Area.

Lorne, your never-ending support and smile around the club will never be forgotten.
