How Much are Membership Dues?
West Valley Flying Club is a private, non-profit corporation. All members pay monthly dues of $55. Dues for the entire current month and your last month's dues will be charged on the first member statement. Monthly dues are not prorated for members who join mid-month. Your last month's dues are held on deposit and will be applied to your final statement.
Members who fly two hours or more each month receive a $10 Safety Incentive credited to their next statement, effectively lowering dues to $45 per month.

To apply for Regular membership, submit a completed application form with a non-refundable membership fee of $75, a refundable $55 security deposit and authorization to automatically charge your Visa or MasterCard for any outstanding monthly balance on the 3rd of each month. First and last month's dues will be charged on the first member statement. After a 90-day probationary period, you are considered a member in good standing. Your security deposit will be refunded within 30 days following termination of your membership or applied to your closing balance.
Associate memberships ($10 monthly dues) are also available. Associate members do not have flying privileges, but are entitled to member rates on simulators and pilot supplies.
All members are required to sign a Continuing Lease Agreement and Liability Statement.
Why A Security Deposit?
By consolidating all your Club charges onto one monthly statement, West Valley Flying Club extends credit to its members. To balance this risk, all members make a fully refundable $55 security deposit at the time they join. Members are required to participate in our Automatic Payment Plan, authorizing us to charge any outstanding balance to your credit card on the 3rd day of each month.
Checkout And Currency Policy
With our emphasis on safety, all pilots must be checked out by a Club CFI in each type of aircraft they wish to fly. You may check out in a higher performance airplane and, depending on your experience, also be signed-off in lower horsepower aircraft of the same manufacturer. To maintain currency in each type, you must log at least 1 hour and 3 takeoffs and landings to a full stop in a WVFC airplane of that type within the preceding 90 days (60 days for tailwheel and complex aircraft).
Phase Check Policy
West Valley requires members to complete a Phase Check, assigned by the Director of Flight Safety's office, for approval to conduct the following operations: student solo and solo cross-country, prior to any FAA practical test, for tailwheel or aerobatic privileges, and prior to authorizing PIC privileges in each model of complex aircraft to be flown.
