Why are you a Certified Flight Instructor?

Aviation has been a life long passion. I learned to fly out of PAO when I was 19. I have pursued most avenues in the world of General Aviation including an extensive aircraft restoration. Instructing has been an unparalleled challenge and reward for me.

How long have you been instructing?
7 Years

Do you tend to favor PAO or SQL, and how might it affect a student's ability to schedule time?
SQL is a slight preference but I am available at both.

How would you describe your availability in general?
Weekends, evenings, and early mornings.

What method of ground school do you prefer and how does it relate to your syllabus?
The best strategy for ground school depends on the student. Some students thrive in a classroom environment, others prefer independent study, while others work well with one on one instruction.

What is your favorite aircraft to instruct in?
For primary ratings the Cessna 172 is my go to. For more advanced ratings the Cirrus provides a lot of smiles.

What are your aircraft recommendations for a new student?
The venerable Cessna 172 is a great starting point.

What percentage of your students pass their checkride on the first try?
Only one has not passed the first time around.

Additional Comments:
Outside of flight instructing I work as a Mechanical Engineer. I bring a wealth of technical knowledge and understanding to the Flight Instruction process.
