Why are you a Certified Flight Instructor?

I would like to help promote General Aviation and General Aviation safety. I do not need the income or to build hours, but am eager to teach others to be good and safe pilots.

How long have you been instructing?
I have been an instructor for 2 years and I have more than 2,000 hours of experience flying and would now like to share that experience.

Do you tend to favor PAO or SQL, and how might it affect a student's ability to schedule time?
When I am not flying, I run a technology startup in Santa Clara. Therefore, during the week I prefer Palo Alto. On weekends I can also meet at San Carlos.

How would you describe your availability in general?
I am part-time instructor. I have a masters degree in electrical engineering. I have a full time job in a technology company. I am available to instruct first thing in the morning, late afternoon, or weekends.

What method of ground school do you prefer and how does it relate to your syllabus?
I think all students will benefit from classroom instruction and the interaction with others that is associated with that form of instruction. My syllabus includes self study and review before each lesson. That way a student will benefit from both types of instruction.

What is your favorite aircraft to instruct in?
Piper makes a great training aircraft.

What are your aircraft recommendations for a new student?
I think that every student should choose an airplane to learn to fly in based on his or her budget and long term goals. WVFC has a range of training aircraft to choose from.

What percentage of your students pass their checkride on the first try?
I am looking forward to maintaining my record of 95% success.

Additional Comments:
I really like to fly. I own an airplane and use it for family trips and to help others through Angel Flight and The Flying Doctors, two charitable organizations with which I am heavily involved with.
