Why are you a Certified Flight Instructor?

When I took my first lesson, I was immediately hooked on flying; I knew that I wanted to have flying apart of my life for as long as I could. As my training progressed, I found that I wanted to tell everyone about what I learned during my lesson and how incredible flying was.  That passion for sharing aviation quickly transitioned into my decision to become a flight instructor.

How long have you been instructing?
1 year

Do you tend to favor PAO or SQL, and how might it affect a student's ability to schedule time?
PAO; Due to my day job, I'm usually only available after 5 pm on weekdays and on weekends (Sunday's availability varies).  It will make scheduling harder if student's can only fly before 5pm during the week.

How would you describe your availability in general?
Certainly part time.

What method of ground school do you prefer and how does it relate to your syllabus?
I like to tailor ground school methods based my student's availability and learning style. I have used both integrated and deintegrated ground school methods and have gotten good results. I do feel that integrating ground lessons and flight lessons together help maintain motivation and material retention.

What is your favorite aircraft to instruct in?
C172

What are your aircraft recommendations for a new student?
C172

What percentage of your students pass their checkride on the first try?
I'm looking forward to making my first student that takes their checkride a WVFC student.
