Raymond Woo

I have a day-job with a technical consulting company in Menlo Park. I recently finished my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Stanford, where I specialized in semiconductor device physics. It was while at Stanford that I first started taking flying lessons, and I have since progressed through all of my ratings at West Valley Flying Club.

I am also an active volunteer search and rescue pilot with the Civil Air Patrol. The Civil Air Patrol is a great organization and just one of the many aviation related ways in which you can volunteer your time and skills to contribute to the community.

Why are you a Certified Flight Instructor?
For me, becoming a pilot was an amazing endeavor. Even now, years after my very first intro flight (which was at West Valley Flying Club), I still find every flight I take to be an unbelievable experience. I became a Flight Instructor because I have found introducing people to aviation to be one of the most rewarding things that I do.

Do you tend to favor PAO, SQL, HWD or E16, and how might it affect a student's ability to schedule time?
I live and work between PAO and SQL, so both airports are very convenient for me. I am available at PAO, SQL, and HWD on weekends.

How would you describe your availability in general?
Available all day on weekends and evenings on weekdays. Please call or e-mail before scheduling a weekday flight.
