May instruct in these aircraft types: *Checkpilot Why are you a Certified Flight Instructor? One of the great thrills in life is watching people develop new skills. Unless you've done it, there is no way to describe the feeling of helping an eager student advance from being unable to taxi without help to being able to fly solo! How long have you been instructing? Since 1978. Do you tend to favor PAO, SQL, HWD or E16, and how might it affect a student's ability to schedule time? I fly from PAO, and for the Twin Comanche, HWD. Please leave half an hour between flights if I need to travel from one airport to another. How would you describe your availability in general? Before, during, and after normal working hours, and every day except Tuesdays. What method of ground school do you prefer and how does it relate to your syllabus? I generally follow the Jepesson syllabus, but adapt it to meet my student's needs and choice of ground school. What is your favorite aircraft to instruct in? For advanced students, I love the Twin Comanche and the Cessna 182 with the Garmin 1000. For beginning students, I prefer the Citabria or the Cessna 172. And my all time favorite (unfortunately West Valley doesn't have one) is the Pilatus PC-12 What are your aircraft recommendations for a new student? Same as above. What percentage of your students pass their checkride on the first try? 90% overall, and 95% in the past three years |
