Brian Frontella

I went on an orientation flight with the Civil Air Patrol, when I was 12 yrs old and I was hooked. I started taking flight lessons at 16 yrs old and earned my Private at 18 yrs old.

Flying is a passion and has been since my first flight. Being a full time flight instructor is my second career. I was a Santa Clara County Sheriff's Deputy for 18 yrs. I worked in the Jails and Courts, but the best assignments were K9 handler in patrol and Transportation Pilot. I retired from the Sheriff's Dept. in 2002 because of injuries from a ‘knock down drag out street fight’, in the line of duty. That's OK, because I am able to pursue my love of flying.

I live in the Central Valley on a ranch that has cattle and horses. I am an avid history buff, especially the Civil War. I am a Civil War reenactor/living historian with the 2nd California Cavalry, Co F, ‘Sacramento Rangers’. I portray a Mounted Cavalry Sgt.. Visit: www.californiacavalry.us for pictures and information.

My goal as a flight instructor is to develop a safe and proficient pilot. I want the two of us to have fun all of the time, if we aren't, then I am doing something wrong.

Lets fly.

Why are you a Certified Flight Instructor?
Flying is a passion to all of us. Nothing is more rewarding than the smile on a student's face when they accomplish a task. If we are not having fun all of the time, I am doing something wrong.

Do you tend to favor PAO, SQL, HWD or E16, and how might it affect a student's ability to schedule time?
I like E16, I live in the Central Valley and it is closer to home.

How would you describe your availability in general?
I am a full time instructor. Monday - Friday and by appointment on the weekends.

What method of ground school do you prefer and how does it relate to your syllabus?
I like Sporty's complete course. It is well organized and allows the student to review the material as often as they like. But, I am open to any other course or programs.

What is your favorite aircraft to instruct in?
The Warrior. I earned my Private certificate in the Warrior and it is fun to fly.

What are your aircraft recommendations for a new student?
I will recommend the Warrior, it is stable, easy to fly, and does not have the nose high attitude during landings. But, the final descision is up to the student.

Additional Comments:
I strive to be well organized and up to date. I like to set goals and discuss the plan of action with the student to meet those goals.

I am available for accelerated training. Those students who want to fly daily or more than once a day, we can come up with a plan. THIS IS NOT A QUICK FIX OR SHORT CUT, we will just fly more often and get through the rating.

I was injured in a work related incident. I went through nearly 3 years or rehab to get to where I am at now. During this time I've learned the importance of proper nutrition and exercise (both regular exercise and exercise for those with injuries).

For those that need help with obtaining, and or keeping their current medical, contact me and lets see what we can do. A plan that includes proper nutrition and exercise my be the solution that you are looking for.

Lets fly.
