Why are you a Certified Flight Instructor?
The best pilots are those who keep on learning and I want to be the best pilot I can be. My personal goal is to prepare you for a lifetime of safe and exciting flying.

How long have you been instructing?
Nine years.

Do you tend to favor PAO, SQL, HWD or E16, and how might it affect a student's ability to schedule time?
I favor PAO. I typically teach at PAO in the mornings before 0800 and in the evening after 1700 during the week. I would need to allow an extra 30 minutes for travel time to do SQL during the week. On weekends I teach Saturday and Sunday. At least 30 minutes is required between back to back lessons at SQL and PAO.

How would you describe your availability in general?
Unless my schedule is blocked, I am available. Special arrangements may be possible; please contact me directly if that happens to be the case. Week days morning and evenings and weekends both days are good for scheduling.

What method of ground school do you prefer and how does it relate to your syllabus?
I prefer that you take the WVFC ground school. A lot of what you need can be picked up on your own, but there is an experience factor you do not get on your own. I generally do not favor the quicky weekend ground schools just to pass the written test.

What is your favorite aircraft to instruct in?
It depends on the student and what certificate/rating they are doing.

What are your aircraft recommendations for a new student?
Try low wing and high wing to see which one you is more comfortable to you. Pick one and plan on doing all your initial training in that aircraft. Move onto other types after you get the private certificate.

What percentage of your students pass their checkride on the first try?
+80% and Gold Seal Instructor.

Additional Comments:
Learning to fly does have its frustrations. However in the end it is all worth the investment you will make. I find learning is much more effective when you find an instructor that suits you...don't rush into a relationship that is less than comfortable for you from day one.
