The Catalina Island Fly-In is a great chance to get some flight planning help and have a great experience with a bunch of fun WVFC folks!

The adventure starts with the challenge of landing at the "Airport in the Sky" on Catalina Island, located just across the Pacific Ocean from Los Angeles. After punching through a small opening in the fog and taking the bus down to Avalon, there is a neverending wealth of activities to experience on this island paradise. The approach end of Catalina's runway begins at the edge of a 1500' cliff. It is said that it gives the airport some characteristics similar to landing on an aircraft carrier that is 1,602' in the air.

Avalon, the largest of two cities on the island is so small, cars have been replaced by golf carts. They even have to have license plates.

Here are some pictures from this year's expedition.
Maybe next year you can join us!
