Why are you a Certified Flight Instructor? My first reason is plane and simple, I love to fly! Another reason why I am a certified flight instructor is because I want to spread the joy of flying to everyone. I have had great instructors in the past, and I want everyone else to have that experience too. Each flight is always a new experience, and I look forward to teaching new students and helping them through the learning process.
How long have you been instructing? I received my CFI certificate in August 2020, but I have been flying for 6 years.
Do you tend to favor PAO or SQL, and how might it affect a student's ability to schedule time? I live closer to SQL, but I am flexible as it is only a short drive away to PAO.
How would you describe your availability in general? I am free during the week days and half days on the weekends. Please email or contact me on my phone for scheduling.
What method of ground school do you prefer and how does it relate to your syllabus? I suggest going through a ground school at WVFC. I went through their private pilot ground school, and not only does it create a solid foundation of knowledge in aviation, but it also creates a bigger personal network in aviation. You can also use an on-line ground school too, and I will go over the material with you to ensure that the material matches my syllabus.
What is your favorite aircraft to instruct in? Cessna 172's and also Pipers.
What are your aircraft recommendations for a new student? I would suggest starting off with a 172 round gauge. This is your standard training aircraft and will help you transition easier into more advanced aircraft. The reason I would suggest the round gauge is because the transition from a round gauge system to a G1000 is much easier to do than the other way around.
What percentage of your students pass their checkride on the first try? I have not sent any students to a checkride, but I am very experienced with taking checkrides and will ensure that they are 100% ready before taking the checkride.
Additional Comments:
I have been a part of WVFC for the past 4 years, and all the staff and the instructors have been very helpful in my path to becoming a flight instructor. I not only am familiar with how WVFC functions, but I was also a fueler for WVFC, giving me much more insight on how things operate. I hope this knowledge is helpful for students down the road, and I hope to continue teaching for years to come.
